2008 – A Year in Review

I’m trying something new.

A few of my more  industrious friends  send an “end of the year” letter in which they recall the triumphs, tribulations and mundanity of their personal years.  Some of these, I’ll admit, are incredibly boring; others are rather enlightening.  Having never written one myself, I figured this is as good a year as any to try to write my own.  Follow me over the fold for “2008 – A Year in Review.” Read more »

My Fair Lady

mfl.gif

Just a quick note to tell the world that I have just been cast in the New York Philharmonic (!!!) production of My Fair Lady. The production star Kelli O’Hara as Eliza, Brian Dennehy as Alfred, and Kelsey Grammer as Professor Henry Higgins. I am singing in the Cockney Quartet, so I will essentially be making my New York Philharmonic solo debut.

Show dates are March 7 – 10th. Read more about the production here.

Ecce Cor Meum by Sir Paul McCartney

I had the unique and incredible pleasure of meeting and working with Paul McCartney this past week to present the American premiere of his new oratorio, Ecce Cor Meum (Behold My Heart). The music itself has its beautiful moments – as well as a few not-so-beautiful ones. But the man was a Beatle!!! He should be commended for taking on such an ambitious project.

The piece was begun when Sir Paul’s first wife (and great love) Linda was still alive. In the midst of composing it, she passed away from cancer. While it isn’t officially Read more »

Bragging…just a bit

Wow. September 15th was my last post on here. And the last few were just reposts of other people’s stuff…sorry I’ve been such a blogger slacker.

The thing is, I have been extremely busy with some pretty amazing stuff. The top of that list, however, just happened on Monday.

Is it joy I feel?

Life upon the wicked stage, especially whilst balancing a show and a full time office job, can be taxing. And rewarding. As was our recently-completed run of Grendel as part of the Lincoln Center Festival.

The show represented the last in a months-long series of singing engagements. What was purported to be a slow season became perhaps my busiest ever. Complaints are few, however. It’s been one hell of a Spring. I have little idea what comes next, but look forward to the slowing of my schedule.

With a bit more time upon my hands at the completion of these gigs, I’m committed to keeping up this blog a bit more frequently. I rather enjoy the writing part of it, and do miss it.

Maybe now I can think of something to say.
